Diabetic Foot Ulcer Research

What This Study Involves

This is a randomized, controlled study where participants will be assigned to either a group receiving standard care or one receiving standard care with an additional wound-healing treatment. Participants will attend weekly visits for up to 12 weeks, with follow-up appointments to confirm wound healing.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this study, participants must meet the following:

  • Age: 18 or older

  • Condition: Diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes

  • Wound Location: A DFU that has not healed within four weeks, located below the ankle

  • Other: Ability to attend weekly appointments, willingness to follow the study protocol
     

Exclusion Criteria

Individuals will not qualify if they:

  • Have other conditions affecting wound healing

  • Have an active infection in the target ulcer

  • Are currently pregnant or have certain recent treatments affecting DF

Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) Study Prescreening Questionnaire

Have you been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes?
Do you have a foot ulcer (open sore) that’s been there for at least 4 weeks and is about the size of a dime or larger?
Is the ulcer located on your foot below the ankle?
If you have more than one ulcer, are they at least 2 centimeters apart? (Only answer if you have more than one ulcer)
Are you able and willing to visit our clinic once a week if you qualify for the study?
Have you recently taken any medications that may slow down wound healing, like certain immune-suppressing drugs or chemotherapy?
